TRIPOD OF DESTINY

“When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable” – Dr. Myles Munroe.

One fundamental principle in life is that nothing exists without a specific purpose or use for which it was made. Everything in life –living or non-living– has a purpose to fulfill. Broom is for sweeping and spoon for eating; if you ever come across someone using a broom to eat and a spoon to sweep the floor, it becomes clear that there is indeed a problem.

God never created anything without a purpose, and man is not an exception. Before He created each of us, he had a SPECIFIC intent in mind. It is clear from the scriptures that God has always been intentional about us.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

“Then said I, Lo, I come (In the volume of the book it is written of me), To do thy will, O God.”

Hebrews 10:7 (KJV)

The Purpose Of Existence

The passages above both suggest that a unique agenda predates the existence of every individual created by God. Our sole duty is to seek and do that which was written about our lives before time began. This understanding spurs us to ask a very significant question: WHY DO I EXIST?. Every individual who seeks to live an effective life needs to seek answers to this vital question.

In our process of seeking out and fulfilling destiny fulfillment, there are three questions that we need to critically consider. I call them the “TRIPOD OF DESTINY”. These questions serve as pillars to every man’s destiny, and we have to turn to the Creator for answers.

But before then, let us take a quick look at a particular Bible verse:

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Acts 1:8 KJV

In the Bible verse quoted above, we see 3 components: “after that The Holy Ghost” (with whom); “..ye shall be witnesses unto me” (what to do); “both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (where to do).

We can see three questions answered in this verse, and this gives the complete picture of God’s purpose intended for Jesus’ disciples, who later became Apostles.

WHAT AM I TO DO?

This talks about the ASSIGNMENT. God’s pre-ordained assignment for our lives sets the pace for all our life’s pursuits. It gives us a general orientation of what to engage in and how exactly to spend our time. We usually assume that this is the only question to ask. As much as this is an essential component, it is not the only thing to figure out.

WITH WHOM TO DO?

This talks about DESTINY RELATIONSHIPS. At this point, it is necessary to note that not all relationships are destiny relationships. God places strategic people in our lives to help us fulfill destiny. Out of all these relationships, the most important is MARRIAGE. The choice of a life partner is a crucial issue, and getting it right is essential to effectively fulfill destiny.

WHERE TO DO?

This talks about THE PLACE OR PHYSICAL LOCATION OF ASSIGNMENT. It is also important to note that the place of destiny fulfillment is crucial. Divine locations are mostly seasonal (temporary), and sometimes, they can be permanent. Knowing where God would have us be per time is paramount as the allocations for fulfilling destiny are often tied to our location.

Every individual who wants to fulfill destiny in full accordance with the will of God will have to take out time to figure out the tripod of destiny. Sorting out this tripod helps us set a correct foundation for all we do in life. We must wait upon Him (God) till He gradually unfolds the mystery of His Will for our individual lives. Ephesians 1:9; Isaiah 40:28-30. Make this your responsibility till you find out what your tripod entails.

May God help us and grant us His Grace even as we wait patiently for the unfolding of the full capture of His Will for our lives. Amen.
